How Social Bookmarking Works?

When you are carrying out a research on something or looking for the best websites that you would wish to surf everyday, you would definitely want to take note of the sites that contain all that information you need.

However, there can be so many sites of your interest that you may find yourself having a hard time organizing them. You may even end up having to go to your search engine and browse through the different URLs to look for those particular URLs again, which you may not be able to recall.

Troublesome isn’t it? But you can save all that trouble for yourself, and also, for others. It can all be done with the magic of social bookmarking.

First of all, you ought to know what bookmarking really is. Think about your storybook! When you use a bookmark and place it on the page where you had stopped at, you will very well know the next day where to continue your reading from. This applies to websites too!

When you bookmark a site, you can easily gain access to that particular site without having to go through the search engine and look out for the site from a long list repetitively. The site will be right there waiting for your next couple of visits! That is just the tip of the iceberg.

In addition to that, it is ‘social’. In other words, others can also browse through the site that you have bookmarked so that they, too, need not have to look for that same site that you have bookmarked from a long list.

How can this be possible?

Let us take the example of the blogosphere. You can see that many of our bloggers like to place tags on one another. Through tags, you will discover many of the URLs of the various blogs, known or unknown to you, and in that way, you can simply click on the URL links to gain access to their blogs and bookmark them.

Tags can also be in the form of categories of your interest where you can place in public websites. This means that both you and the others around you can view the sources of information at the same time. This is what you can expect in social bookmarking.

Watch this video and listen carefully to this lucid explanation of how Social Bookmarking works.

So get yourself pro-active in social bookmarking because it lets you and the others in your network work more productively with the Internet.

Did we just mention ‘tags’?

We just remembered that we received a cool tag from Marzie and Rolando, and we are here to share it with you. This is in fact a fine example of how social bookmarking can help save lives…literally…

Before we go any further, please take note of the rules as listed by Liz of Successful Blog:

1. Copy the unfinished story below into your post box.

2. Fill in the blanks to finish the story. For most of the blanks use a blogger’s name, a trait, a post title, and a blog title — get creative.

Finish each sentence in an unexpected way. You can find plenty of links to spark your imagination at the A-Z directory.

3. Link the text you added back to the blog or blogger you’re referencing.

4. Be creative. Change the words or storyline as you wish in order to fit in the links you like.

5. When you’re done, leave a link with the title to your version of the story in the comment box below.

Here is the story template:

Here is our story
Title: How Social Bookmarking Saved A Princess

The handsome and gallant Male NAFA was busy attending to Benji and Phoebe, when out of the blue, the Cooking Queen and the Poem King gave us a shock, with the queen serving her home made Chee Chong Fun, and the king reciting his self-written poem to entertain the adorable felines.

Poor Male NAFA felt neglected of all those privileges! But just when he thought that he was being deliberately deprived of the Chee Chong Fun and the poem dedication, the two of them whispered into his ears and said that Princess Karen has been captured by the monstrous Blogosaurus, and they just needed to distract the cats so that he could discretely leave them to save the damsel in distress.

You might think this is strange, but in the Nafa World Of Social Bookmarks, such things happen all the time.

Our brave and quirky hero knew exactly what to do – with the magic carpet, he flew off to get assistance from the Mighty Revellian.

Revellian may be mighty, but has a golden heart to boot. So he hopped onto the magic carpet to help in the mission to rescue the princess, but our brave and quirky hero had no idea where he should command the magic carpet to bring them to, and went to Rolando’s Playground, which was not so distant from where he was, to sit on the swing while thinking and thinking about the dilemma.

Seeking help for this dilemma, our hero headed down the road to Madame Joyce who would probably know the princess’s whereabouts.

The road passed three creatures – each of them was more interesting than the next. The first was Jamilla, The Latte Inventor..

The second was MT who was kind enough to save us from the heavy traffic during our magic carpet ride. The third was the apple of all eyes, Apple.

Our brave and quirky hero ran the rest of the way, and when he got there, he got another surprise! “Hey Joyce!” Our hero exclaimed.“Hey guys, I am enjoying a nice glass of soda with my dearest prince charming here in this exotic Web 2.0 Cafe.

Well there must be something that brings the both of you here,” she answered.
“I was playing with Marzie’s cats, when out of the blue, I was informed that the princess has been captured, but Revellian and I do not know where to go now,” our brave and quirky hero said, knees shaking.

“Could you spare me your thinking cap so that I can become a genius in this kind of rescue missions?” And so it passed that Joyce gave our brave and quirky hero the thinking cap.

He, together with his psychic Revellian, was off to rescue the princess from the clutches of the Blogosaurus. AND… he slashes that creature’s throat, untie the rope to save the princess, and all was well.

You might think this is strange, but in the Nafa World Of Social Bookmarks, such things happen all the time.

I've done the tag.

How imaginative of you, ha ha ha! Very good:)

As far as bookmarking goes, I use onlywire. It submits any site or post I mark to every bookmark site I belong to (16 of them) in one click. Immediately after that, you can see what I bookmarked in my sidebar in my delicious linkroll. Delicious really is the biggest of all of them and I use it a lot!

Does the Nafa crew use Stumble? Just wondering. Nice post Nafa, I have now been tagged a few times with this and will try to have my post up today:)

Abt Stumble, sure we can be partners. Will work on it. Actually we do have a Stumble account, but we seldom log in to it. Perhaps u can share with us how Stumble really works and how we go abt using it. We know how generous u are in sharing information like this. =)
