The Music Icon Of Asia

Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, The Music Icon Of Asia

If you were asked to name one Asian sensation that has been clinching loads of music awards and has probably the most colossal fan base in Asia, her name would unquestionably be the first to cross your minds. She is none other than Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza!

Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza was born on January 11th, 1979, and is the fifth child of eight children in the family. She made her very first television appearance in 1995 as a contestant in a Malaysian singing competition called RTM Juara Bintang (RTM Champion Star), where she defeated the rest of the contestants and emerged as the winner. She was only sweet 16 then. Ever since sealing her victory, her innate singing talent in singing had caught the attention of Suria Records, and the year 1996 marked the release of her self-titled debut album, Siti Nurhaliza. Her first album was selling like hotcakes and attracted many music lovers from all across Asia, and so did her subsequent albums. Her first ever single from the debut album, Aku Cinta Padamu (I Love You), was covered by a boyband in Australia.

She was an iconic figure in Malaysia’s music industry and created history by making her appearances in other parts of the world. In 2004, she was called to present a special performance at Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan. She became the first non-Chinese to make the special guest appearance there. In April 1st, 2005, she created yet another historical moment for herself with her outstanding performance at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Britain press had regarded her as ‘Asia’s Celine Dion’ due to her exceptional vocals.

On August 2006, she married Datuk Khalid Jiwa, a successful businessman from Malaysia. Her marriage with him was solemnized on August 21st, and the wedding reception was held on August 28th. The wedding was declared Wedding Of The Year. Even after marriage, fans still adore her and her music, making her Malaysia’s leading female artiste and one of Asia’s well-acclaimed singer and songwriter till this day.

This award-winning sensation recently came down to Singapore for Anugerah Planet Muzik 2007 (Music Planet Awards 2007), an annual music awards show that brings together music icons from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. As always, she would never leave the show empty handed! She bagged three awards, which were Most Popular Female Artiste, Best Female Artiste, and Best Song for one of her latest singles, Biarlah Rahsia (Let It Be A Secret). These are a few of the many awards that she had clinched since her singing career took off.

She has blossomed so much over the years, yet she stays true to her roots and remains down to earth. This is one trait that makes everybody go head over heels for her!

The NAFASG team is very proud of Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza and wish her continuous success in her singing career.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for dropping by to pay a visit to the lovely DIVA here!

Jackie i agree with u that she has a great singing voice. Original! Superb!

Marzie, u just mentioned the title! Hehe! I love the song too.

Kayatan, it's not all about the title right? Even without a title like that, u can still gain respect from others around u. U are respected for who u are, not for the title u hold. So no worries yeah? =)
