She had endured tormenting moments in the past during the World War II. Her greatest warriors had gone through bloodshed and sacrificed their loved ones and their lives to fight for her well being. As the saying goes, cry now and laugh later. After all the misfortunes that she had to put up with, she finally gained independence on 9th August 1965, and over the years, emerged as the hub for large corporations, leisure purposes and the most prestigious arts events. Singapore had progressed significantly from a small island to the center of worldwide attraction.
She has developed into a flourishing hub for business and trade. With the growth in her manufacturing industry, she has become the busiest harbour internationally, welcoming over 600 shipping containers into her shores. Her business network with foreign corporations has stretched so far, that she is now the main center for oil refining and distribution, business deals and the banking sector which comprises 130 banks in total.
She has also pulled the heartstrings of tourists with her exciting attractions. Her attractions depict her history, her multi-cultural society, and her distinctive image. The most prominent of all is Sentosa, which serves to restore the unforgettable history that had since shaped her heritage and multi-cultural image. Alongside Sentosa are the Singapore National Museum, The Arts Museum, The Sultan Mosque, Chinatown, Little India and Fort Canning Park.
Singapore would not be where she is today…if not for all Singaporeans who have stood together hand in hand for 42 years to uphold her good name. So Singaporeans, let us all give her our fullest support. We at NAFASG are very proud to call her our homeland. There is no place we would rather be…but here in our beloved Singapore.
Happy 42nd Birthday Singapore!
