When Love Is Just A One-Way Traffic...

To you who are reading this, we want you to close your eyes, clear your mind from everything else...and take this time right now to visualize...

Imagine yourself drowning in the deep blue sea and fighting for your life. Gasping for breath, you call out for help. Suddenly, someone sees you from afar.

Since he or she sees you, your delusions begin playing with your mind and soul. As he or she draws closer to you, you start to believe that your life is going to be saved. You stretch out your hand because your delusions tell you that he or she will take your hand and pull you out of danger.

But all the hope that you bear in your heart...comes crashing down, as he or she takes one short glance at you...and then walks away.

You give your one last cry. Then you, together with your hope of being rescued, simply drown deep into the sea...

That is exactly how one feels when one has so much love to share with a special person, and shares it with all his or her might, just to discover later on that he or she will never be loved in return. For some, time will heal things and they will learn to accept reality as it is.

But sadly, there is an exceptional group of people, who simply cannot take the blow and eventually plunge themselves into an illness. An illness that results from their inability to keep themselves in one piece, just because their love is not reciprocated...

This illness, known as Erotomania, occurs when a person, in his or her delusional state of mind, believes that that particular person he or she loves also loves him or her just as much or even more. That ‘lie’ apparently sticks to them like glue, and sooner or later becomes out of control.

Those who have had a history of emotion and mental related diseases such as depression or bipolar disease are normally at a greater risk of getting it.

To most of us, body gestures, facial expressions or communication styles that we see in someone may still not clearly justify whether we are being loved or admired or not, but for them, these simple physical movements can make them assume too quickly that they are being loved or admired. What they do not know is that what they have seen actually is not meant to be a message of love for them.

It was just their naked eyes fooling them into thinking that way, all because they want it to be that way.

In actual fact, there is an erotomanic side in all of us. Surely enough, most of us would probably have ever been head over heels towards a celebrity, and there is always a little part of us that fantasizes a time when that celebrity loves us too.

But what sets these patients apart from the general public is that they cannot snap back to reality. They just want to live in their world of fantasy forever. They just want to dream and never wake up from it.

Erotomania is a rather complex mental disease to be treated, but obviously, one who has this illness would need major psychiatric treatment. It should also be backed up by support from family and friends.

Put yourself in their position and it can be such a painful feeling for you to know that they are in such pitiful state. We may not know exactly who are going through this illness right now, but we do hope that we can reach out to them directly or through our readers, with this article.

To those of you who are going through this tough time, as difficult as it can be, please learn to make it through the rain and stand up once again, because we know you can. And remember, you are not alone, for love will always surround you. It may not come from that person whom you wish could give it to you, but do not fear, because we believe that someone could be out there, wishing from afar, that he or she would be given all the chances in the world to shower you with all the love you need.

Everyone is loved. So are you.
