Often we would think that a hero is one who saves the day with his or her ‘super powers’. These are heroes who exist in movies and television series.
For us, a hero is one who dares to get out of his or her comfort zone and make a change, whether on a large or small scale, regardless of what others would think and say of your actions.
The concept of heroism, as most of us should be aware of at this juncture, is that heroes are made and not born. This statement is absolutely true because ultimately, we decide whether to realize our ability to create a hero within us or let that opportunity go down the drain.
Sometimes we may fear that the actions we have taken to make a difference to ourselves and others around us may be too small for us to ‘qualify’ as a hero in our lifetime, but we should not let that lead us to belittlement. As long as we take those actions with full of courage and determination, and as long as we can see that a change has been made as a result of our actions, we should hence believe that there is a hero in all of us.
So all in all, being a hero is not something that is out of reach. It is already there in you. Some heroes have been unleashed, while others are still waiting to be unleashed.
Do not be afraid. Do not apprehend. Just be the way you are, and have faith in your ability to create a hero out of you.
